Or so it would seem. The Apple keynotes have just finished and if you head over to engadget you can get lots of information on EA games for Mac, 10 new features in leopard, the iPhone and last but not least; Safari on Windows!

Thats right, if you head over to Apple.com/safari/download you can get Safari on Windows XP and Vista.

My honest to god first impressions? Slow like iTunes. Ugly like OSX. Useless like Opera.

Give it a show though and tell me I'm wrong.

Edit : After some testing, it does load pages noticably quicker than Firefox...interesting

Grass wallpapers? Check.
New icons? Check.
Stacks? Check.
New 3d desktop? Check.
New animation system? Check.

Impressive!

To me that looks like transparency for transparencys sake, it doesnt make the top bar any more readable or "better".

Microsoft did transparency, so can we! Rush

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I prefer transparency to solid colour.

My top and bottom panels are transparent, but you can't tell with my current wallpaper.

I thought load speed was mainly dependent on connection speed. The browser played the minor role.

Rendering time is more important than your connection speed. Its like comparing engines in a car.

Okay so maybe not more important, but as important

In Firefox, Wuggawoos active topics takes a second to be fully rendered
In Safari, Wuggawoos active topics takes half a second to be fully rendered

...and lets not go off track, my response was to Sticky saying that he thought only connection speed matters. I was trying to think of something to compare.

You can change the number of connections firefox makes to servers to pull data off, and you can also change the delay between when it receives the data and when it renders it.

Feel free to post the config commands to achieve the same page load time as safari.

God forbid you lose 2p per mile.

Everything adds up.

...and consider that its halfing your load time on every page, your twice as quick the surfer you are before.

Its like saying you don't want faster internet, because god forbid you lose 20 seconds of your life waiting for that download.

Yes because no-one in the broadband or browser market should bother to improve speed....because hey, its only half a second every page load for god knows how many pages you load over a year.

As someone who spends 12 hours a day refreshing the same 5-10 pages while testing, it makes a hell of alot of difference to me.

With broadband speeds what they are at the moment, the bottleneck is the servers now.
