My digital camera takes pictures in 6 mega pixels at fine detail which generally means they come out a 2MB per photo. I could turn the quality down but sometimes its nice to have really detailed images - incase I want to get them printed.

SO, the problem being using images generally on the internet! Its a hassle. I have to open fireworks - set the quality level to 80 and then resize it. Not too bad but ultimately very annoying when I want to post 5 or 6.

My parents got a new dog last night and Ive been taking pictures for them, mom wants to email the breeder some of the images to show her settling in with the other dog, however my mom wouldnt have a clue and would end up spamming this poor lady with 2MB images (incidently this lady lives in the middle of nowhere and has dial up )

Anywho, I went on a hunt and found (the attached) BIR - its so awesome. You edit the title of the program (800 currently, to say 400) and drag a folder or a selection of images onto the exe and it works its magic.

Very awesome, worth a share I feel.

http://www.irfanview.com/

irfanview does the exact same thing also, but it's an image viewer too, and has a batch resize, you can also add a tag to your photos (for copyright reasons) during the batch process.

'tis been out for years :P

Basically, it's what the Microsoft team do when they get bored.

They're coded by the Microsoft programmers, but are not officially supported by Microsoft.

As such, you get a lot of really cool programs (Desktop manager, Image resizer, Command from here...etc) written by the people who know the OS best. Worth a download, even if you don't use any.

PowerToys add fun and functionality to the Windows experience. What are they? PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released.

Note: We take great care to ensure that PowerToys work as they should, but they are not part of Windows and are not supported by Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys. PowerToys are for Windows XP only.

Says it all really.
