Do you really need to MOT it?
Wouldn't it be easier to be sneaky and drive it to the track for it to get wrecked?
Of course it would be easier, but it would also be illegal!
I hope it'll go to more than one track day.
What was Lee's Astra, a 1.8 coupe? Any extras? The ACTs and 2.2s tend to hold a lot of value as they are the fastest models, the 1.8s have depreciated terribly.
It was on ebay (advert) for 5k, although this guy come from hednesford, and he said he couldnt afford more than 4.5k, i just said you can have it for that cause i just wanted to get rid of it, its been sitting there doing nothing for the past 4 months. It was a 1.8, but a special edition with all the body kit and fancy interior. Once i stick the cash in the bank ill be debt free for the 1st time in like 3 years

Talking to owners, the initial buying the car is the cheapest bit. The tyres and fuel are the most expensive bits! I went out in a VXR and made a jokey question about when he last had a set of tyres (after a tyre-screeching burnout away from some lights) and he said he'd had a new set the day before.

I know they have shit mpg, something like 17 average, but god i love them

Why didn't you just buy a complete corsa and rip all the shit out of it

...because Jacks a different breed. He prefers to build than receive fully complete.
Good project though, sure he's learnt alot more about cars and how things work.

After all you put me through
You'd think I'd despise you
But in the end I wanna thank you
'Cause you made me that much stronger

The amount I've spent on it... it would probably have worked out cheaper to do that, and have none of the headaches putting a 16v PAS engine into an 8v shell with no PAS.
Still, it's something to play with in the evenings. There were things I wanted to do to it that would have needed the engine out (or at least the gearbox) anyway, like the light flywheel and checking the clutch. So, it's worked out alright really.
In hindsight I should have held out for a 1.6 16v Corsa, but this one was offered to me at a very good price with tax and MOT and I couldn't really turn it down.

When I get bored of the engine as it is I'm going to nitrous it, and when it kicks the bucket I'm thinking about replacing it with a 2.0 or a V6.

I do enjoy my small V6 in my car. Power when I need it, and it's amazingly gas efficient. 135 miles or so and it took a quarter of a tank of gas. Not bad.
