Well thats bland, and usually Id agree that its a good thing because desktop pictures just take up stupid amounts of dumb ram.

However on monday my 512mb stick arrives, so Ive set a desktop picture so I get used to this speed, and on monday I can guage the improvement, heres mine now...

i just bought a 256 RAM chip today, which wil give me 512k or whatever when i add it in later tonight

but ill still have that desktop

512mb you mean :P

You should notice a big diffrence, add it in now.

As spooky put it to me, going from 256mb of ram to 786mb of ram is like going from wearing lead boots to slippers.

Cant wait...shame Im totally busy on monday...College from 9 - 5 and then tesco training from 5 - 11...so Im having the afternoon off college because its not fair.

Well having a desktop that big isnt helping, you are aware having a huge desktop doesnt help your framerate when playing games? It slows down your graphics adapter thus lowering your fps in games.

Try playing battlefield with your desktop @ 800 x 600.

I *might* be wrong, its something I was told along time ago. Also restarting and closing all applications, EVERYTHING, then playing will also help, leave keylogger open though

i think your right tho, becuyase when i leave a game on high res, its all slow and takes a while to display everything on my desktop again :/

I remember when I first got my computer I was amazed I could play UT2k3 and then browse the internet. Before my computer would be so slow after a game. One year on and I always restart after a game regardless.

Actually, desktop backgrounds use the RAM on your graphics card. :P

I'm getting another 512mb stick today to give me 1024mb and a 256mb graphics card. Will upload a lovely desktop when I get home.

I don't like XP's fisher price look. I have a kewl skin to make it look sweet.

Windows 2000 still has the best GUI, and KDE is the best GUI for Linux, no doubt. It looks to smooth....

No, I think just recently gnome (gtk) has surpassed the kde gui. Its quite a lot better than it was in the old days.

Your right, I don't like the XP themes, they are soo.. overly colourfull...
